Our team has compiled a list of eating disorder resources and support groups to help you navigate recovery or care for a loved one. Whether you’re dealing with anxiety, loneliness, or are in need of additional recovery tools, we’re here to support you. If you’re located in DC, Maryland or Virginia and you’re looking for outpatient treatment providers, or if you are looking for higher level of care treatment facilities, check out our Rock Referral Guide. If you are looking to connect with a peer mentor, our friends at ANAD have a wonderful Recovery Mentorship Program for those who struggle with disordered eating and are motivated to recover. Visit ANAD’s website to learn more.

  • ANAD’s longest-serving program is its eating disorder, self-help support groups. Groups are free, confidential and open to anyone 18 or older struggling with an eating disorder. Click here for the full support group schedule.

    • Yoga for Eating Disorder Recovery course includes peer support, community, skill-building, and embodied practices to help with recovery. This free course is offered monthly (runs for four weeks) and is available at a variety of times, confidential and open to anyone age 16+ or older who is in active eating disorder recovery.     • Yoga + Recovery Chats Events are a great way to connect with others in recovery, share your challenges and celebrations and access support. Embody a short practice specifically designed to support eating disorder recovery and receive ideas and inspiration from those with first-hand experience of what it takes to recover. This free event is a joint community event brought to you by two leading nonprofit organizations working to help people recover from eating disorders. You can register here.     • How We Recover events are panel discussions with people with lived experience of recovery, are a great way to get inspired, ask questions, and gain insights from individuals who have overcome eating disorders and built happy, healthy lives.   • Eating Recovery Center provides virtual eating disorder support groups for alumni, family members, ERC alumni and community members seeking support or caring for a loved one in recovery. Click here for more information and a full list of support groups offered.

Resources for Parents & Loved Ones

  • Our virtual prayer support group for parents and loved ones will help you connect with others who are on similar journeys and engage your faith to find hope in the recovery journey.

  • This support group provides a safe space for parents to connect with others to freely process their role in the recovery process during these challenging times. Currently, there is a mix of parents whose children are stepping down from all levels of care. For more information, email aayvas@gmail.com.

  • Stay Strong VA is a nonprofit that raises awareness, educates and provides direct support with respect and empathy.
